Catch the latest concert set for Modesto’s Fruit Yard. See who’s playing and when

The Fruit Yard Amphitheater’s next concert features country artist Chris Janson. There’s plenty of other entertainment in the greater Modesto region set for Sept. 21-27. Here’s a look:

Chris Janson

Chris Janson brings his country sound to the Fruit Yard Amphitheater. Janson started as a songwriter, writing Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah” and Justin Moore’s “Off the Beaten Path,” according to AllMusic. He recorded “Buy Me a Boat,” which marked his breakthrough hit in 2015. He’s known for songs such as “Fix a Drink,” “Drunk Girl,” “Good Vibes” and others. He will be joined at the concert by country group Parmalee.

Edible Extravaganza!

The Center for Human Services presents it 38th Edible Extravaganza! fundraiser featuring more than 40 of the region’s restaurants, breweries, vintners, bakeries and local growers. There also will be live music. All proceeds benefit the center’ programs and services.

Turlock Melon Carnival

The long past Turlock Melon Carnival will return. Friday’s events include a barbecue, Miss Melon Pageant, and live music by No Way Back with a street dance. Saturday includes a Kiddie Kaper Parade, entertainment, melon contests, vendors and more.

Wild Planet Day

Modesto Area Partners in Science and the Great Valley Museum present the all-ages Wild Planet Day with live animal shows featuring Reptile Ron, Uncle Jer’s Traveling Bee Show and 75-pound tortoise Sloppy Joe. There will be activities, display tables, face painting, photo booth, science selfie stations and a bubble blast.

Greek Food Festival

The annual Greek Food Festival at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church features a Greek dinner with takeout available, homemade pastries, a marketplace, coffeehouse, live Greek music and entertainment and church tours.

Children’s Museum gala

The Modesto Children’s Museum celebrates its first anniversary with an Imagination Celebration Gala. “The evening promises color and creativity, discovery and drinks, adventure and artistry, all to support the sustainability of this beloved nonprofit,” according to a press release. The fundraiser is a chance for adults to explore the museum without children.
