Celebrations set at new Prairieville High School and two other Ascension Parish schools

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — This summer, school officials will celebrate the completion of construction projects at three Ascension Parish high schools.

East Ascension High, Prairieville High and Donaldsonville High were part of the $140 million school bond projects approved by voters in 2020, according to the school system.

Ascension Public Schools said East Ascension High is getting a new two-story main academic building that includes a courtyard, Donaldsonville High got a cafetorium expansion including a theatre stage and new administration offices and Prairieville High is a new campus opening this fall.

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies are planned for each school in July and August. The public is invited to attend and will get a chance to tour campuses.

The East Ascension High event was held on Friday, July 12.

“These three ribbon-cutting ceremonies will mark the culmination of relentless dedication and hard work in establishing a brand new high school and elevating our existing schools to the standards of excellence our students deserve,” said Superintendent Edith M. Walker. “These achievements are a testament to the unwavering support by and investment from our community, and are fulfilling the promises made by the Ascension Parish School Board.”

When and where upcoming celebrations are happening

  • Prairieville High: 1 p.m. Thursday, July 18 at 40070 Parker Road in Prairieville.

  • Donaldsonville High: 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 100 Tiger Drive in Donaldsonville.
