Central Bucks School District officials will vote Tuesday night on a new contract for Superintendent Abram Lucabaugh that comes with an immediate $90,000 raise.

The new five-year, $315,000 contract appeared as an agenda item for the July 25 meeting, published sometime early Monday morning on the district’s website.

Lucabaugh was officially hired to replace former head administrator John Kopicki in August 2021 at $225,000 with a performance-based raise of at least 2% for the first two years of that five-year contract.

Dr. Abram Lucabaugh is a seventeen-year employee of the Central Bucks School District. The superintendent served as Central Bucks High School East's principal for eleven years before being appointed assistant superintendent of secondary education in 2018.

Tuesday’s agenda shows Lucabaugh will resign his current position, ending his current contract, before the board will then immediately vote to re-appoint him as superintendent and then vote on his contract.

Lucabaugh’s new salary could make him one of the highest paid public school superintendents in Pennsylvania.

In 2018, the highest paid school administrator was former Abington School District Superintendent Amy Sichel at $319,749 before she retired about a year later, according to the York Daily Record.

For the first two years, Lucabaugh could see a bump of at least 2.5% of his base pay if the board marks his performance as “proficient” and then a 3% minimum increase for the remaining three years.

All told, Lucabaugh could make $361,635 by 2028 to represent the fourth largest school district in the state, which has also found itself at the center of multiple controversies since he first took the position.
