Champaign entertainment producer arrested for selling child pornography

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A producer at a Champaign summer music program has been arrested for selling child pornography.

Illinois State Police said they arrested 28-year-old Dante Scott on Monday and transported him to Champaign County Jail before conducting a residential search warrant in Champaign. Police received multiple Cyber Tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, they said.

On Tuesday, Scott was arraigned with eight Child Pornography charges, all Class X felonies. He will have a detention hearing on Thursday.

Scott, also known as DJ Slim, worked on the Beat program this summer as one of the Entertainment Managers. Scott also worked for the Champaign Public Library, but stopped working there in March.

The City of Champaign confirmed his past employment and gave WCIA the following statement on Scott’s arrest:

“The City can confirm that Dante Scott served as a contracted vendor to provide entertainment services to the City this summer, and was a former employee of the Champaign Public Library. As this is an open investigation by the Illinois State Police, the City will not comment on this matter further.”
