Chapel Hill ISD in mourning after high schooler dies from leukemia

SMITH COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – Chapel Hill ISD is in mourning after Bulldog Band member and 11th grade student, Diego Rodriguez, died of leukemia on Thursday.

“We are deeply saddened at Chapel Hill High School with the loss of Diego. I was fortunate to have been Diego’s principal for the last three years. I will miss his infectious smile and kind heart the most,” said Linda Godwin, assistant principal at Chapel Hill High School.

Rodriguez was a junior trombone player in the Bulldog Band. The band shared a page where donations can be made to help cover his family’s funeral costs.

“Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. We love you, Diego. Keep smiling!”
