Charlamagne Tha God spoke with Vice President Kamala Harrison Tuesday (Oct. 15) for We The People: An Audio Townhall. The conversation —which streamed live on CNN and on iHeartRadio’s official website—was an hour long and found the radio host calling out the Democratic Presidential nominee for her “filibuster” response to a question on reparations and more.

“There are certain things that must be repeated to ensure that I have everyone know what I stand for and the issues that I think are at stake in this election. And so it requires repetition,” Harris declared after Charlamagne teased her about her 40-second lateness and noted how she “come[s] off as very scripted.” He added, “They say you like to stick to your talking points.”

When speaking on reparations, Harris stated, “First of all, on the point of reparations, it has to be studied. There’s no question about that.” She went on at length to list general policies that could be applied to this issue. Charlamagne described the moment as a “filibuster.”

The author and media personality, alongside listeners who called in further, pressed Harris on issues including foreign aid, marijuana legalization, and immigration.

One person expressed concern over Donald Trump’s vow to mass-deport illegal immigrants, stating that the former president might “put anyone that doesn’t look white in camps.”

Harris responded, “Yeah, so you’ve hit on a really important point and expressed it, I think so well, which is he is achieving his intended effect to make you scared. He prefers to run on a problem instead of fix a problem, and we got to call it out and see it for what it is.”

She also recited some talking points from her campaign before reiterating that the Biden-Harris administration “dropped a bill to fix the broken immigration system,” that would provide a clearer pathway for those needing to be legalized.

Charlamagne later blasted Harris’ conviction rate during her time as District Attorney of San Francisco. She defended herself when explaining, “I was the most progressive prosecutor in California on marijuana cases and would not send people to jail for simple possession of weed.”

The sit-down cut Harris off mid-sentence, as she went past the allotted time while she was speaking on Trump and him bashing Detroit, saying, he “has a tendency to mention cities that either have historically black majority population or—.”
