Chautauqua County man gets 7 years for burglary charges

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Forestville man was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in prison after being indicted on burglary charges in February and pleading guilty to attempted burglary in July, according to the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials said 56-year-old Gary Lang “terrorized” neighborhoods in Fredonia, Portland and Pomfret between the week of Christmas 2023 and New Year’s 2024 by looking for valuable items to steal from their vehicles and homes.

He was indicted by a grand jury on charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree attempted burglary, attempted petit larceny and trespass in February.

Lang pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted burglary in July with his plea covering the other charges.

Lang was sentenced to a determinate sentence of seven years in state prison as well as five years of post-release supervision.
