Cheney fires back after Trump boosts post calling for her televised military tribunal
Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney is firing back at former President Donald Trump after the GOP frontrunner boosted a post on Truth Social calling for her “televised military tribunal.”
Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and longtime critic of Trump, responded after the former president promoted a meme reading, “Elizabeth Lynne Cheney is guilty of treason” and “Retruth if you want televised military tribunals.”
“Donald - This is the type of thing that demonstrates yet again that you are not a stable adult—and are not fit for office,” Cheney wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Before she lost a bid for re-election in 2022, Cheney served as vice chair of the House Jan. 6 committee and was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump after the 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
These posts came a day before the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Trump is immune from criminal prosecution for “official” acts he performed while president, which could impact the outcome of his election subversion case.
Trump also reposted a post calling for the imprisonment of Democratic and Republican party leaders, including President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and former Vice President Mike Pence.
