Chicago Fire's new chief has been unveiled, as Dermot Mulroney joins the cast.

Season 13 of the drama series is set to kick off with a new leader, following Eammon Walker's exit as a series regular.

Walker played Chief Wallace Boden, who was promoted to Chicago Fire Department's (CFD) Deputy Commissioner in the season 12 finale.

Despite Boden suggesting Herrmann (played by David Eigenberg) become his successor, the latter has to be promoted to captain and take the Battalion chief test before taking the helm.

In the meantime, Mulroney will be filling Boden's shoes as series regular Chief Dom Pascal.

According to TVLine, Pascal will be leaving his chief role in Miami to join the Chicago team. However, the character actually began his career with the CFD.

With his leadership style reportedly different from Boden's, could this lead to a difficult adjustment for the team?

Last season also bid farewell to two other series regulars last season. Paramedic Sylvie Brett (played by Kara Killmer) left the show after ten seasons, when she and fire captain Matt Casey (played by Jesse Spencer) finally tied the knot.

Meanwhile, firefighter Blake Gallo (played by Alberto Rosende) unfortunately barely featured in season 12, as he moved away in the opening episode in order to be closer to his family.

Elsewhere, Jocelyn Hudon has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming season. After joining Firehouse 51 in season 12 as a freelancer, paramedic Lyla Novak eventually agreed to join Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) as an official member of the ambulance team.

Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med air on NBC and Peacock in the US, and on Sky Witness in the UK.
