Chicago man charged with assault after elderly man attacked in Jamestown Tops

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A man from Chicago, Illinois was arrested and charged with second-degree assault after he allegedly attacked another customer at a Tops in Jamestown Saturday, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Officers responded to Tops Markets at 738 Foote Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. for a victim that had been attacked by another customer. An elderly male victim with physical injuries was found inside the store. He was treated on the scene by Al-Star ambulance before being transported to UPMC, police said.

20-year-old Lanell Williams of Chicago, IL was arrested following an investigation. He was located at a residence in Jamestown and taken to the city jail, according to police.

Williams was charged with second-degree assault. He is being held pending arraignment.
