Chicago Med original cast members returning for season 10 after shake-up
Chicago Med has confirmed the return of three original cast members for season 10.
According to Deadline, S. Epatha Merkerson (who plays Sharon Goodwin), Oliver Platt (Daniel Charles) and Marlyne Barrett (Maggie Lockwood) have all signed new deals to continue on the show after their contacts ran out at the end of season 9.
The news comes after it was announced that a new showrunner is set to take charge of the NBC medical drama for its upcoming tenth season, which was renewed back in March.

Allen MacDonald, who has previously worked on Harlan Coben's Shelter, 13 Reasons Why and CSI, will replace Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider as executive producer.
On their departure from the series after nine years at the helm, Frolov and Schneider said in a joint statement: "We love Chicago Med and have devoted all our creative energies to it, but after nine seasons we feel it’s time for us to move on and explore other possibilities.
"We’ve been privileged to work with a great writing staff, production team and a brilliant cast of actors. We will miss them all."

Meanwhile, it was recently confirmed that Dominic Rains will not reprise his role as Dr Crockett Marcel for season 10, after his character decided to take some time off to grieve his daughter's death in the season 9 finale.
However, despite the actor's departure from the series, Deadline did report that a future cameo hasn’t been ruled out.
Elsewhere in the One Chicago universe, Chicago Fire star Jocelyn Hudon was recently promoted to a series regular, with her character Lyla Novak set to establish an important role in season 13.
Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med air on NBC and Peacock in the US, and on Sky Witness in the UK.
