Chris Christie calls Trump debate ‘huge fail’

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie offered a damning critique of Donald Trump’s debate performance Tuesday night.

Speaking on ABC, the debate’s host network, shortly after the first meeting between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris ended, Christie said the former president was “unprepared” for the debate.

Christie, a two-term Republican governor who also mounted presidential bids, has been an outspoken Trump critic in recent years.

Christie had reportedly offered debate advice to Harris and earlier this year said he’d not vote for the one-term president this time.

In his remarks on ABC, Christie said “whoever did the debate prep for Donald Trump should be fired,” and called Trump’s awkward asides about people eating pets and crowd sizes at his rallies “a huge fail.”

In his final assessment, Christie said, “Trump better get to work or he’s going to lose this election.”
