City of Antelope downgrades evacuation levels for ongoing Bennett Fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Evacuations for the Bennett Fire were downgraded Monday afternoon as the wildfire threatening parts of Wasco County reached 631 acres.

The Wasco County Sheriff’s Office announced the City of Antelope’s evacuation level was reduced to a Level 2 “Be Set” after being placed under a Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation late Sunday night.

Meanwhile, the City of Shaniko is under a Level 1 “Be Ready” evacuation notice, and the Shaniko Schoolhouse was converted into a temporary Red Cross Shelter.

The Washington Family Ranch and Clairno are still without power, but deputies say energy will likely be restored between 6 p.m. or 8 p.m.
