City of New Orleans opens cooling centers amid heat advisories
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The City of New Orleans announced that it has opened emergency cooling centers across the city from July 29 through Aug. 3.
WGNO meteorologists report that a heat advisory has been issued for Tuesday, July 30.

To help residents stay cool and beat the heat, city leaders said emergency cooling centers have been opened for the week.
During the day, city officials said residents can cool off at the following locations:
Louisiana SPCA at 1700 Mardi Gras Blvd.

City officials also offered the following tips for residents to stay safe in the heat:
Stay inside with air conditioning during the hottest parts of the day
Perform outdoor activities in the early morning or late evening when possible
Wear loose-fitting, light clothing
Avoid unnecessary sun exposure
Drink a lot of water
Check on neighbors, children, older adults and those who are chronically ill
Never leave children or pets unattended in a car
