Clear Creek Amana High School's Henry Davidson is the Press-Citizen Student of the Week

Henry Davidson, a sophomore at Clear Creek Amana High School, is the Iowa City Press-Citizen’s latest Student of the Week.

Davidson secured 484 votes, or 41.87 % of the total vote, narrowly edging out Lone Tree senior Mia Bauwens, who secured 401 votes, or 34.69%.

Clear Creek Amana Principal Mark Moody told the Press-Citizen, "[Davidson] is extremely driven to be successful in the classroom, and his actions back up his words. As a sophomore, it is impressive to see him work hard to balance all his extracurricular activities with his high expectations in the classroom."

Davidson is involved in extracurricular activities like robotics, speech, swimming, band, and cross country. He also sets high expectations for himself as a student and works hard to succeed in the classroom, frequently meeting with teachers during student support hours before and after school.

This week's Student of the Week poll included two other nominees from Johnson County.  Faculty at area high schools are asked to nominate students for outstanding academic achievements and community service.

This week's poll closed Thursday, April 11. A new Student of the Week poll will go live on Monday, April 15.

Bauwens serves as a leader in the National Honor Society (NHS), where she heads the youth tutoring program.

Olivia Vande Berg, Iowa City High School

Olivia Vande Berg is a junior at Iowa City High. She has left a lasting mark on the mock trial scene with her remarkable performance, propelling her team to a prestigious state runner-up finish. Notably, she was recognized as an All-State attorney, showcasing her exceptional legal acumen.
