Columbus Metropolitan Library CEO Pat Losinski announces retirement
Columbus Metropolitan Library CEO Pat Losinski is retiring.
"It is time for the library to refresh with new leadership. The library is poised to start a new chapter - with an opportunity to create a vision for the next decade and beyond," he announced Tuesday in a news release.
Losinski is retiring after serving as CEO for 22 years. He's been consulting with the library board of trustees for several years to find a good time for his departure, according to the release. He agreed with the board to stay on for several significant events from last year, such as its November levy.
Now, the process for hiring a new CEO lies with the board of trustees. Losinski will continue as CEO until the new CEO starts, but he will not be involved in hiring them.
The changes that occurred during Losinski's 42 years working in libraries have been "remarkable," he said.
"I could have used Artificial Intelligence to write this announcement (I didn't). A.I. is one of the many indicators forecasting the continued transformation of the beloved and essential public institution known as the public library. I will watch with excitement and pride as CML continues to lead in shaping that future," he said.
