Columbus police shoot suspect after three stabbed on east side
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus police said they shot a suspect after he allegedly stabbed three people Tuesday on the east side of the city.
According to a Columbus police dispatcher, officers responded to the original stabbing incident around 3 p.m. in the 300 block of Hoskins Way. According to Columbus Police Sgt. James Fuqua, several people called 911 to report the stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found the suspect on the porch of the home holding a knife. Fuqua said the man appeared to have injured himself with the knife before officers arrived.
After several repeated attempts to get the suspect to put down the knife, at least one officer fired their weapon. It took two Taser deployments to put the man down, Fuqua said, at which point, officers were able to get the knife away from him.
“We do know, like I said, at least one officer did discharge their firearm, but it’s unclear at this point if the injuries sustained (by the suspect) was just from a stab wound or a gunshot wound as well,” Fuqua said.
According to Fuqua, the three victims have been upgraded to stable condition. At least one of the victims was over the age of 70. Fuqua added that the suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but was upgraded to stable condition.
No officers were injured in the incident, Fuqua said.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating, a common practice in shootings that involve law enforcement officials.
“We understand, we talk about it all the time; as the temperatures go up, we know the tendency for violent situations can also go up, so I just want to commend every officer who not only responded to the scene and did everything in this particular neighborhood, but every officer,” Fuqua said.
