Comedian Dave Attell coming to Birmingham Nov. 16
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Dave Attell, a “comic’s comic” who has heralded critical praise as one of the best comedians in the country, will be coming to Birmingham this November.
Attell, whose wit and joke writing have been celebrated by some of the biggest comedians today, will be performing at The Lyric Theatre on Nov. 16.
Originally from New York, Attell began his career as a standup comic in the late 1980s, coming up with such luminaries as Louis CK, Marc Maron, Sarah Silverman and Jim Gaffigan. Over the course of his career, he has released eight comedy specials that have premiered on Comedy Central, HBO and Netflix, as well as one album, “Skanks for the Memories.” He is also known for “Insomniac with Dave Attell,” a show he hosted on Comedy Central from 2001 to 2004 where he toured different cities, exploring their nightlife and the jobs people worked during late-night hours.

Although his subject matter is often considered raunch and politically incorrect, Attell’s work ethic and respect in the comedy scene has been profiled in places like The New York Times and on several podcasts, where different comedians spoke of his comedic influence on generations of comics.
The show will start at 7 p.m.
