Community speaks on the legacy of Ed Daniels following his death
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — It was a true celebration of love as Ed Daniels was laid to rest, and those impacted by him came to show their respect one last time.
Coach JT Curtis had the chance to give the eulogy to convey to people the kind of person Ed Daniels was.
“As a real person, the kind of man he was, the kind of father he was, the kind of husband he was, and the kind of coworker he was. The way he was able to relate with people, share with people and mentor people,” said Curtis.

Saints legend Archie Manning says Ed was the kind of person who could never be replaced. He cherished the moments they spent, explaining his grandson Arch is taking Daniels’ death hard.
“He has lost somebody that he thought so much of and liked so much like Ed. So, this is kind of new for him. I thought that there got to be hundreds of high school kids who got to know Ed and are affected by this,” said Manning.
His neighbor, Phil Grecko, says Ed Daniels revolutionized football coverage.
Family, friends bid last farewell to Ed Daniels
“Ed comes along and starts Friday Night Football, and now everybody does a Friday Night Football show. He was an inventor, and he just loved sports. Any sport it was he had a great knowledge of it,” said Grecko.
Beyond his sports career, a family friend says everyone who knew Ed will remember him as a caring and loving family man.
“Actually, grew up playing ball with his daughter. So, staying in touch with them, talking about him. Remembering the times we were with him, especially his granddaughter Kate. He was always so even keeled,” said Nicole Zerigue.
