A concert-sized stage is being set up on the southern end of Milwaukee’s Veterans Park on Thursday morning.

The set up, which began in the early morning hours Thursday, comes a day before Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to speak and hold a concert in Milwaukee on Friday evening.

However, a Harris campaign official said Harris's Friday event would not be held at the lakefront but did not provide details about where it would be held.

An electrical permit filed with the city for Veterans Park lists "Kamala Harris rally" as the event description.

Meanwhile, a noise variance permit for McKinley Marina just a bit north of Veterans Park references "Harris for President" as the "responsible party" and a concert as the event's purpose. The noise variance permit lists a date range from Wednesday through Monday.

Crews with Majic Productions were busy setting up the scaffolding and the makeshift flooring, with generators on semi-trailers being hauled in.

Jose Sierra, the owner of Sierra Public Safety Group out of Chicago, was setting up a security camera just outside the fenced-in area.

When asked by a reporter if the stage was being set up for the vice president he only nodded and said “yep.”

While Harris will return to Wisconsin on Friday, former President Donald Trump will hold a rally at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.

The appearances will mark the second time in this final week before Tuesday's election that Harris and Trump will both be in this key swing state on the same day to make their closing pitches to voters.

Tom Daykin and Mary Spicuzza of the Journal Sentinel staff contributed to this story.
