Construction starts for Algonquin Park Pool. What we know so far
Project: Algonquin Park pool
Location: 1614 Cypress St.
Description: Fences have surrounded the Algonquin Park Pool as renovations have begun ahead of its Spring 2025 reopening.
The pool will have several amenities, including a family slide, a lily pad bridge, a zero-depth entry ramp, a climbing wall and a vortex, according to a February press release from Louisville Metro.

“Algonquin Park is essential to our city — especially [western] Louisville — and we are committed to making sure it has world-class amenities for families to enjoy,” Mayor Craig Greenberg said in the release. “We are working together with urgency to deliver on the promise of a great pool for this park, which had not seen the investments needed since it opened in 1968.
"Now, it’s going to be one of the best in our city and I can’t wait to see it come to life,” he said.
Cost: According to the release, the pool renovations are expected to cost an estimated "$11.5 million but that is subject to change as plans are finalized." A large portion of the funding for the pool — $9 million — comes from the American Rescue Plan Act funding designated for Louisville parks and libraries.
Size: "The area within the pool fence will be approximately 13,000 square feet," Katey Cook, a spokesperson for Louisville Parks and Recreation, told The Courier Journal via email.
Architect: Brandstetter Carroll, Inc., Cook said.
