Cooling centers available to escape excessive heat in South Jersey
Government facilities, no matter where you live, typically double as “cooling centers" as needed. Sites include municipal buildings, senior centers, and libraries, in addition to pools and other reactional water facilities.
Unlike warming centers, cooling centers often do not require an activation order to expect visitors.
As temperatures and humidity rise this week, the sites below are available for hours of relief. The Juneteenth holiday may affect hours this week depending on how the holiday is observed.
Burlington County cooling centers and resources
According to Burlington County spokesman David Levinsky, all county library branches are designated cooling centers during daytime and evening hours.
The county Office on Aging has 20-inch box fans for senior citizens in need. Call 609-265-5069 to arrange pickup or delivery.

Camden County is distributing free window fans and window air conditioners to residents 60-year-old and older and with annual income of $25,000 or less. Make requests at 856-858-3220.
