Corning Chamber Awards Night a royal celebration
The Corning Chamber of Commerce’s “A Royal Celebration” Awards Night was a royal hit on April 27 as hundreds attended the affair at the town’s Veterans Memorial Hall.
From a delicious dinner to a successful live auction, the annual event was home to costumed “royalty,” awards, silent auction, no-host bar, decorated table contest and lively band.
This year’s awards recipients for the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year were Michael and Rachel Taylor, a father and daughter duo who provide countless hours of service to the community’s Veterans Hall and the veterans organizations it houses.
Corning Police Activity League (PAL) Mentoring Program was awarded the Chamber’s Nonprofit Organization of the Year award, and Corning High School student Genevieve Rosas was presented the Chamber’s Jr. Achiever Award.
On hand to recognize the award recipients with congressional and senate certificates was Teri DuBose, field representative for Congressman Doug LaMalfa and Bruce Ross, field representative for Senator Brian Dahle.
Chamber Board President Julie Kincheloe welcomed all in attendance followed by a dinner catered by GGLove Catering out of Richfield.
The evening’s entertainment was provided by the band, Skyway 5, who kept a lively mood for the evening’s festivities.
A lengthy table adorned with silent auction items and baskets was the site of guests elbow to elbow placing their bids throughout the night.
Tom Wright served as the auctioneer for the event’s live auction, bringing in a tidy sum on donated items, such as a $4,500 diamond ring that sold for $2,100, and a Blackstone barbecue that went for $350. A brand new patio set sold for $240; and a dozen cheesecake cupcakes went out the door for $60, purchased by Burger King in Corning. The estimated total for the live auction was $3,720.
This year’s winner of the Chamber’s annual Award Night decorated table contest was Bell Carter Foods.
As the evening drew to a close, Kincheloe recognized Chamber Board member Jessica Brooke who chaired the event committee and the many sponsors who made the dinner possible.
