Costco lawsuit settlement: How to get payment if you purchased flushable wipes

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Have you ever bought Kirkland Signature Moist Flushable Wipes from Costco? Those who have purchased that product in the past might qualify for a part of a $2 million class action lawsuit settlement.

Legal news website Top Class Actions said that while the company has not said they did anything wrong, the have reached an agreement to “resolve the false advertising class action lawsuit.”
Customers who got the wipes between July 1, 2011, and May 31, 2017, are eligible for up to $55.90, at $1.30 per product.
“The plaintiffs claim flushing them caused damage to pipes, septic systems, sewage lines and other plumbing,” Top Class Actions said. “Consumers argue they would not have purchased the wipes if they knew they were not truly flushable as advertised.”
FOX 8 has done multiple stories on damage caused by flushing down disposable sanitizing wipes in Northeast Ohio. The wipes cost utilities across the country millions of extra dollars, according to the National Association of Clean Water Agencies.
Costco has not stopped selling the wipes, and as seen in photos of the product, the packaging now reads: “never flush more than one wipe at a time.”
