Whataburger, a Texas-based burger franchise, broke ground at 1466 Woodruff Road on Tuesday, March 5 and will be the first location to open in South Carolina this summer.

The burger restaurant is expected to open seven additional locations across the Upstate by the summer of 2025, ranging from Spartanburg to Duncan, spanning their franchise into their 16th state.

"The countdown begins for Whataburger's South Carolina debut," said Preston Hughes, growth market leader at Whataburger. "We can't wait to open our doors this summer and celebrate this milestone with Greenville by creating memorable moments over craveable food."
