Country artist Chris Cagle and rockers Firehouse to headline sweet corn festival
MILLERSPORT ? The Millersport Sweet Corn Festival usually only features country acts, even though Starship appeared one year. But this year will feature '80s rockers FireHouse performing at 8 p.m. on Sept. 1 and country artist Chris Cagle taking the stage at 8 p.m. the next night.
"We're very thrilled with both acts," assistant chair of marketing/public relations Dan Booze said. "So far we're getting very good positive feedback from our community on both names."
Booze said the festival tries to stick with mainly country acts. But he said it's sometimes hard to find a country act near the area during the festival, along with not having the money for certain acts.
Here are some things to know about the festival and the main acts:
The festival will run from Aug. 30 through Sept. 2 at 2905 Chautauqua Blvd. from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Aug. 30, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sept. 2.
FireHouse is known for hits like "Love of a Lifetime," "Don't Treat Me Bad" and "When I Look Into Your Eyes." The band released its first album in 1991.
Chris Cagle's tunes include "What KInda Gone," "Laredo" and "Got My Country On." He released his first song, "My Love Goes On and On" in 2000.
The grand raffle prize this year will be $10,000.
The festival is free, but there is a $10 parking fee.
