Covington man killed in St. Tammany Parish crash
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Covington man is dead following a head-on collision in St. Tammany Parish on Friday morning.
According to the Louisiana State Police’s Troop L, troopers began investigating the two-vehicle crash, which claimed the life of 25-year-old Jonathan Brister, just after 10:15 a.m. on July 26. The crash reportedly occurred on Louisiana Highway 21 near Louisiana Highway 1053.

The initial investigation showed that a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Brister, was traveling north on LA Highway 21 while a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south. For currently unknown reasons, the Cruze traveled across the centerline of the highway and hit the Silverado head-on.
Brister wasn’t restrained when the crash occurred. He was transported to a local hospital but later died due to his injuries. The driver of the Silverado was restrained, sustained moderate injuries and was also transported to a local hospital.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers as part of the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
