CTA Orange Line service resumes after shooting disruption
CHICAGO — Service on a portion of the Chicago Transit Authority’s Orange Line was disrupted for less than an hour Wednesday as police investigated a shooting not far from the line’s Halsted station.
In a preliminary report, police said a 44-year-old man was shot in a foot during an argument with another man on the 2500 block of South Archer Avenue. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and listed in stable condition. No one was in custody as of 2 p.m. as officers continued their investigation.
The disruption began at about 12:30 p.m. and lasted about 50 minutes, a CTA spokesperson said.
The interruption, though brief, on a line that connects to Midway International Airport comes at a time when Chicago’s airports are expecting nearly two million travelers for the Independence Day holiday, with Wednesday expected to be the busiest day of travel.
