Daily Digit is the story behind the numbers that make our world work. Today we’re looking at the U.S. obesity rate. According to a new study, obesity rates have risen in 34 states. From 2008 to 2009, 26 percent of Americans were obese. That number has risen to nearly 30 percent. Along with the rise in obesity, diabetes has also risen in 18 states. The study recommends that people limit unhealthy food intake and stay active, and it encourages states, businesses and schools to do their part in promoting healthier lifestyles.
