LONDON — When it comes to Instagram, Daisy Ridley is one of the most genuine celebrities out there.
Alongside her sweet messages to co-star John Boyega and funny posts about Star Wars, the actress has also used the platform to shut down body-shamers and speak about the impact social media can have on self esteem.

“Social media is great but also a bit scary cause what people post is the most filtered, most carefully chosen and cleverly edited moments of their lives,” Ridley wrote in a previous Instagram post.
“My skin isn’t great so I don’t post no make up selfies, much as I’d like to.”
That all changed on Monday, though.
It started when Ridley shared the following image to celebrate reaching 2 million followers.

“I’m currently sat writing an essay covered in spot cream drinking mint tea but no one wants to see that,” she wrote.
Shortly afterwards, though, she changed her mind.
The feedback from commenters was overwhelmingly positive.
