Danville man dead after car vs. pedestrian accident overnight

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — An 82-year-old Danville man was killed early Sunday morning after he was hit by a car.

The Danville Police Department arrived near North Gilbert and West North Streets at 3:43 a.m. A vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident was reported. The vehicle driver was at the scene and was not hurt in the incident, however, the pedestrian was found unresponsive.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Illinois State Police are now handling the investigation, Danville Police said. They said they are waiting for more details and will share it with the public once it is received.
