Danville street closed for Phase 1 of Downtown Revitalization project

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Danville announced a road closure that will last through late summer.

The closure, which began at 7 a.m. on Friday, July 12, shut down Madison Street between Vermilion Street and Hazel Street. The construction comes as part of Phase 1 in the Downtown Revitalization plan. City officials said the closure will affect drivers traveling eastbound and westbound on Madison Street and drivers should seek alternate routes to avoid delays.

They added that motorists and pedestrians should be extra cautious when traveling near the roadway closure corridor. Officials said the street is anticipated to be reopened by Wednesday, August 28 at 4 p.m.
