Darlene 3 Fire 100% contained, crews continue mop up
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Darlene 3 Fire is now 100% contained a week after it first sprung up in Deschutes County, officials said.
The fire, which grew to be just under 4,000 acres, was determined to be human-caused; however, the exact cause is still under investigation.
According to Central Oregon Fire, local crews are continuing to clean up hotspots and will be sticking around the monitor throughout the weekend.

As of Monday night, evacuations are still in place in the area, including Level 2 “Be Set” evacuations for all areas immediately surrounding the fire and Level 1 “Be Ready” evacuations for the Newberry Estates subdivision and all areas east of Highway 97 and north of Highway 31.
Last week, several Oregon wildfires were visible from space, including Darlene 3, Little Valley and the Upper Applegate Fire.
The Upper Applegate Fire in Southern Oregon is also now 100% contained.
