David Cassidy, Adam West, Roger Moore remembered at SAG Awards
David Cassidy, Adam West, Bill Paxton and Sir Roger Moore were among the late stars honoured at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards on Sunday (21.01.18).
A video montage was screened at the Shrine Auditorium as part of an In Memoriam segment, which shone the spotlight on those who have tragically passed away over the last 12 months, including Rose Marie, Don Rickles, Jerry Lewis, Jerry Van Dyke, Miguel Ferrer, Mike Connors, Erin Moran, Powers Boothe, and Della Reese, by broadcasting brief clips of them in their most famous roles.
Actress Felicity Huffman introduced the segment and hailed the "eternal honour" those who had passed away have given to "our profession".
She said: "Tonight as we recognise the performances of our peers, we also celebrate some dear friends whose contributions to our art form are everlasting.
"Though no longer with us, their work will continue to captivate audiences around the world and to bring eternal honour to our profession. Now join us in remembrance of just a few of our unions most enduring talents."
The SAG-AFTRA Foundation Twitter account also took the time to "fondly remember" those who had passed away.
They posted: "We fondly remember the lives of John Hurt, Mary Tyler Moore, Bill Paxton, Rose Marie, Robert Guillaume, Bernie Casey, Martin Landau & the incredible performers who passed in 2017. #SAGAwards."
However, many viewers took to social media to complain Mary Tyler Moore had not been included in the segment, but her passing was recognised at the 2017 ceremony, as she died at the age of 80 just days before the awards show took place.
