Deadly shooting of SE Portland teen death still unsolved 10 years later

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — 10 years ago, on July 22, 19-year-old Paul W. Krekeler was shot and killed in Southeast Portland.

The shooting happened late that night near Southeast 57th Avenue and Southeast Harold Street and by the time officers arrived at the scene, Krekeler was already dead.

Police are still investigating the case and they are asking anyone with information to come forward and contact them.

In 2022, one of Krekeler’s friends, Kemper Woodruff, told KOIN 6 that he is still hoping that police are able to solve the case.

“The gun crime is crazy in this state right now,” Woodruff said. “It really is a crisis.”

The cold case had originally been shuttered until it was reopened in 2022.
