Death in Paradise star Joséphine Jobert has revealed whether or not she'll return to the show in the not-too-distant future.

The actor is best known for playing DS Florence Cassell in the hit BBC series, recently returning in the season 13 finale as a guest star for Ralf Little's exit.

In a new fan Q&A on her Instagram Stories (via Daily Express), Jobert was asked what the future holds for her character, with one person asking: "Would you ever do the spin-off of Death in Paradise following your recent departure?"

"I think I can safely say no," read her response. "I've already left and come back many times and I've definitely done my time on the show.

"I've finally been able to say goodbye to Florence and while I am very grateful to have been part of this project that has brought so many lovely things in my life, I am also happy to be able to move on and take part in new projects."

She concluded: "But I completely understand why the question is asked. In fact, I am very touched that the public wants to continue following Florence."

In the season 13 finale, Florence and Neville happily sailed off into the sunset together, making way for EastEnders actor Don Gilet, who is confirmed to take the lead in season 14 as Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson.

Filming is currently underway on the next series, which will see the return of cast members Don Warrington, Shantol Jackson, Ginny Holder, élizabeth Bourgine and Danny John-Jules.

As for Jobert, the actor has landed two new roles since her most recent Death in Paradise appearance. In May, it was announced that Jobert will play a new detective, Deputy Police Chief Geneviève Archambault, in a Canadian police series titled Saint-Pierre.

She's also set to star in a new drama titled Concordia, set in a fictional city where AI "ensures a free and fair society".

Death in Paradise and its spin-off, Beyond Paradise, both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
