WASHINGTON - Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Tuesday he wants to debate his new Democratic opponent for the White House, Kamala Harris.

“I would be willing to do more than one debate, actually,” Trump said on a conference call, CNBC reported.

No word yet on specific details.

Trump debated President Joe Biden on June 27, and Biden's poor performance prompted a rising number of Democrats to urge him to withdraw from the race.

Biden did just that on Sunday, and Democrats quickly rallied behind Vice President Harris.

Trump had already agreed to an ABC News debate with Biden on Sept. 10. In recent days, however, Trump said he wanted to replace ABC with Fox News.

Harris late on Monday secured the required number of delegates to be the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee and is expected to formally accept that role at the Democratic National Convention scheduled for Aug. 19-22 in Chicago. Her presidential campaign did not immediately comment Tuesday on Trump's latest pledge to debate.

In his brief comments to reporters on Tuesday, Trump said he would absolutely debate Harris, calling it an obligation for any nominee.
