Jordyn Gonzalez, 18, was arrested on July 17 on attempted capital murder and first-degree battery charges.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Siloam Springs police went to the 1100 block of South Holly Street on July 13 and found a man who was shot in the torso and near the kneecap.

Witnesses told police a group of young men allegedly jumped the victim, beating and shooting him before leaving the scene. The man was taken to a nearby hospital, according to the affidavit.

One unspent and two spent 9mm casings were found at the scene.

The alleged victim spoke with police at the hospital and said he was called outside of his house by the group. Once he left his house, the group allegedly started kicking and hitting him before being shot, the affidavit said.

The victim said he only knew one of the people involved in the incident.

Police reviewed security camera footage of the incident on July 15 and identified the truck the group fled in.

Two members of the group spoke to police after being identified and said Gonzalez was the shooter.

Siloam Springs police talked to Decatur’s chief of police, according to the affidavit. The chief said Gonzalez had “many run-ins” with the department for gun-related incidents and for shooting people in a couple of incidents.

Gonzalez is being held in the Benton County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond and has been ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.

He has a court date set for August 26.
