Defense contractor expands footprint at Hagerstown Airport
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) — The Washington County Hagerstown Regional Airport is expanding its partnership with defense firm Sierra Nevada.
The firm, based in Sparks, Nev., has been awarded a $991 million Pentagon contract to conduct aerial intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance exercises with the U.S. Army.
Community pools in Hagerstown wind down for summer season
Business leaders said it is a positive sign for the Washington County region.
“This company has been there for 60-plus years,” Paul Frey, president and CEO of the Greater Hagerstown Chamber of Commerce, said. “It’s good for the airport. It’s good for the local economy.”
Already, Sierra Nevada employs hundreds at its Hagerstown facility.
