BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — DEMCO Utility is preparing for outages across Louisiana during the upcoming hurricane. DEMCO officials stated they are tracking Tropical Storm Francine, which is expected to gain strength before it hits Louisiana mid-week.

All DEMCO employees are tasked with storm-related responsibilities. Crews are stationed in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Livingston, St. Helena and West Feliciana parishes.

“Our entire staff is in storm mode,” said Randy Pierce, CEO and general manager of DEMCO. “We follow an emergency response plan, and each employee has a responsibility before, during, and after the storm.”

“We maintain preparedness year-round and are on high alert for this storm,” says DEMCO member and public relations manager Anne Hawes. “We house extra poles, cross arms, transformers, and wires in every district. DEMCO cancels leave for essential personnel like line crews and line mechanics when a major storm will likely impact our service areas. Contractors and out-of-state crews are also placed on standby if additional help is needed.”
