Republican David Young defeats Democrat Laura Snider to keep Iowa House District 28 seat

Republican state Rep. David Young staved off a challenge from Democrat Laura Snider to win reelection Tuesday to a second term representing House District 28.
With an estimated 99% of votes counted, Young won with 53.3% to secure another term representing areas of Dallas County including southwestern West Des Moines, Adel and Van Meter, according to unofficial results. Snider trailed him with 46.7% of the vote.
Young, 56, previously represented central Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District from 2015-2019 until Democrat Cindy Axne ousted him in 2018. He is a practitioner in residence at The Institute for Public Democracy at Drake University.
He considered “property tax relief” and ensuring transparent use of property tax revenue his top issue.
