Democrat Pat Harkins has been re-elected as 1st District state representative
Democrat Pat Harkins, of Erie, has been re-elected to the state House of Representatives.
Harkins was unopposed in Tuesday's general election. He also was unopposed for his party's nomination in this year's primary election.
Harkins will begin his 10th term as 1st District state representative in January. He has represented the district, including five Erie wards and Lawrence Park Township, since 2007.
Harkins chairs the House gaming oversight committee and also serves on the House Policy and Rules committees. He is co-chairman of the early childhood education, labor, law enforcement and pre-K caucuses and also serves on the PA SAFE, sportsmen's and Polish and Slavic American caucuses.
He was a UPS driver for 23 years before he was first elected to the General Assembly in 2006.
