Democrats project anti-Trump campaign messages onto his Chicago hotel
The Democratic National Committee projected anti-Trump campaign slogans onto Trump Tower in Chicago on Sunday, one day before the Democratic convention kicks off.
The messages include "Trump-Vance 'weird as hell,'" "Harris Walz fighting for you" and "Project 2025 HQ," a reference to the controversial conservative policy plans written by a slew of allies of former President Donald Trump. Trump has disavowed Project 2025 in recent weeks.
"This week, the entire country will witness what it looks like to unite behind hope and a clear vision for a better future, as Democrats rally behind Vice President Harris and Governor Walz," said DNC spokesperson Abhi Rahman in a statement. "While Donald Trump and JD Vance are out for themselves, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are fighting for you."
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment Sunday night.
Projections were written in English and Spanish and changed every few seconds. Other messages included "Trump-Vance out for themselves" and "Harris Walz joy and hope."
"All eyes are on Chicago, and tonight, everyone is seeing a preview of the contrast that will take center stage this week throughout the Democratic National Convention," Rahman said.
The Democratic National Convention is set to launch Monday with a number of speakers leading up to President Joe Biden's address in the evening. Harris is set to deliver her speech Thursday, when she will formally accept the party's presidential nomination.
Trump is set to hold a series of campaign events throughout the week, drawing a split-screen with his political rival. The Republican National Convention took place last month, just days after he was the target of an assassination attempt.
