Demolition requested after fire destroys 2 1/2 story structure in Riverside neighborhood
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A demolition was requested following a Wednesday morning fire that destroyed a structure and damaged another in Buffalo’s Riverside neighborhood, officials announced.
Buffalo fire responded to 17 Collaton St. just after 10:40 a.m. Wednesday. The fire started on the second floor of the 2 1/2 story wood-frame structure and extended to the attic. Three people were displaced.
Damage is estimated at a total of $375,000, with $250,000 to the structure and $125,000 to the contents. Due to the extent of the damage, a demolition was requested.
A nearby structure at 2327 Niagara St. was also damaged in the fire. It sustained $25,000 in damage to the structure and none to the contents.
