Did you know you can go horseback riding on Ocean City's beach? Here's how to do it.
Did you know you can saddle up for a one-of-a-kind beachfront adventure right here in Ocean City, Maryland?
Each year, from Nov. 1 through March 30 between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m., residents and visitors alike can go on their very own serene ride along the town's 10-mile stretch of sandy beach.
"Experience the magic of horseback riding along the coast from 27th Street to the Inlet jetty," the popular resort town destination said online.
Riders may take to the hard sand closest to the water's edge between the south jetty at the Inlet to the northernmost edge of 27th Street. Riders must walk and keep pace. Galloping, horse racing and polo matches are prohibited.

The rules for riding a horse on Ocean City's beach
“Our goal is to drive people to come to Ocean City, to find it as a place of value even outside of the holiday and summer seasons,” Ocean City Special Events Director Frank Miller previously told Delmarva Now.
Up to 12 horses are allowed on the beach at one time. More than 12 requires the city manager’s approval.
Riders must yield to, and ride around, fisherman, fishing lines, swimmers and individuals engaged in any other beach-related activity.
In addition, riders must clean and discard manure, hay and all other debris off the beach. They must also insure that any person riding is wearing SEI Certified ASTM standard F1163 headgear.
A permit is required to take part in the horseback riding activity, and can be found online.
The individual who obtains the permit will be responsible for any and all individuals engaging in horseback riding pursuant to said permit. This includes the responsibility of insuring that any beginner or intermediate rider is accompanied by an experienced rider and is capable of controlling the specific horse which he or she is riding.
All riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Also, any horse trailer used to transport a horse to Ocean City for horseback riding may only be parked at the beach parking lot.
"Don't forget to bring your own horse!" the resort town said.
