Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been placed on suicide watch as he awaits trial in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center for his alleged sex crimes. According to sources, the 54-year-old “is in shock and his mental state is unclear.”

Although it hasn’t been made clear how long he’s been closely observed, according to the U.S Department of Justice National Institute of Corrections, the watch is a “preventive measure” where “supervisory precaution is taken for suicidal inmates that require frequent observation.”

According to his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, via TMZ, Diddy is “not at all suicidal.” Agnifilo adds that Diddy is in fact “strong, healthy, confident and focused on his defense.”

Diddy was arrested on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution on Monday night (Sept. 16). Since then, the music mogul has attempted to bail out twice, which he was denied both times.

His legal reps have argued to the judge that the conditions inside the MDC are not suitable for the father of seven. “Just earlier this summer, an inmate was murdered,” his attorney stated. “At least four inmates have died by suicide there in the past three years.”

Reportedly, the MDC holds roughly 1,600 inmates with only a “few dozen awaiting trial.” The facility serves as New York City’s primary federal detention center dating back to 2021. It is also the same facility that’s held R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell and cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried.

Combs is currently facing charges after being accused of forcing participants into “Freak Off” sex parties with male escorts, and recording the happenings. “Freak Offs were elaborate and produced sex performances that Combs arranged, directed, masturbated during, and often electronically recorded,” his 14-page-indictment states.

During the raiding of Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles, federal agents discovered guns and ammunition, drugs, and large amounts of baby oil and lubricant.

Diddy is set to return to court on Oct. 9.
