Diesel fuel spills from tractor trailer along I-290 in Amherst, Tonawanda
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Amherst Police Department announced that a “large amount” of diesel fuel had been spilling from a tractor trailer Thursday evening on the I-290.
Just after 4:50 p.m., Amherst Police say they responded to a report of a disabled tractor trailer on the I-290 eastbound near the exit to I-990. There, it was determined that the truck had been spilling diesel fuel along the I-290 in both Amherst and the Town of Tonawanda.
Amherst Emergency Services, NYSDEC, the North Bailey Fire Department, the Brighton Fire Department, and Rusiniak’s Towing reported to the scene and assisted in the cleanup, according to police. Clean up efforts have now been turned over to NYSDEC.
