Don Jr. says JD Vance and Tucker Carlson were his top two choices for Trump's VP
In an interview at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday, Donald Trump's son, Don Jr., said his top choices for his father's running mate were former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and Ohio Sen. JD Vance.
When asked about Carlson's potential political career by Axios co-founder Mike Allen, Don Jr. said he wasn't sure Carlson wants a political career, adding he works better on the outside of things than on the inside.
"I think Tucker can do a lot more from the outside, I don't know that he ever wants it," Don Jr. said. "He and JD would've been the two people I would've loved to seen as a VP, but you also have to want the day job, and that's a big part of it."

Trump announced his selection of Vance as his running mate on Monday before he made an appearance at the convention. Vance was on Trump's VP shortlist along with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum.
Carlson, a well-known face in conservative media, departed Fox News last year in the wake of the Dominion Voting Systems defamation suit after Carlson spread disinformation about the company's voting machines.
