'Donald only cares about himself': Watch Hillary Clinton's speech at DNC convention

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton emphasized Monday night that Vice President Kamala Harris is the candidate to defeat former President Donald Trump this election year.

During her speech at Democratic National Convention, which was delayed several minutes by sustained applause as soon as she stepped on stage, Clinton said Harris is the only candidate with America's best interest at heart. Clinton said if elected Harris will fight to lower costs for hard-working families, add high paying jobs and yes she will restore abortion rights nationwide.

"Kamala has the character, experience and vision to lead us forward," Clinton said. "Kamala cares about kids, families and America. Donald only cares about himself."

The former U.S. senator from New York attested to Harris' integrity referencing how the two began their careers as attorneys supporting abused and neglected children.

"That kind of work changes you. Those kids stay with you. Kamala carries with her the hopes of every child she protected, every family she helped, every community she served," Clinton said. "On her first day in court, Kamala said five words that still guide her: 'Kamala Harris, for the people.' That’s something Donald Trump will never understand."

Clinton calls out Trump's 34 felony convictions

Clinton complimented Harris' career as a prosecutor saying she locked up murderers and drug traffickers as former attorney general of California.

"She will never rest in defense of our freedom and safety, Donald Trump fell asleep at his own trial, and when he woke up, he made his own kind of history, the first person to run for president with 34 felony convictions," Clinton said.

She also said it's no surprise that Trump is lying about Harris' record while mocking her name and laugh.

"Sounds familiar," she quipped.
