Doris & Victor Day Foundation awards $800,500 in grants to QC groups

The Doris & Victor Day Foundation Board has awarded $800,500 to 44 charitable
organizations through its annual grants program, according to a news release.

“These organizations will, in turn, significantly impact the Quad Cities, enhancing the lives of its residents and contributing to its development,” the release says.

The contributions, a testament to the foundation’s long-term commitment, stemmed from
a significant $10 million gift from the Doris Day Estate in 1987. This generous gift was
intended to make the Quad Cities a “better place.”

“The Board had many difficult decisions to make with the grant docket this year,” said Tyla Sherwin-Cole, The Doris & Victor Day Foundation executive director. “In response to the unprecedented demand for funding, The Foundation took a broad approach to our grant-making to fund larger amounts to fund as many nonprofits as possible with the limited funds available. We understand our critical role in providing general operating grants that are important to the organizations delivering the effective and impactful programs and services that contribute so much to the Quad Cities.”
